Important Information & Registration

  • Our Camps welcome children ages 8-16 years old.
  • For opportunities for younger students, regular lessons in smaller groups are recommended.
  • ORR reserves the right to intervene at any time with a student, including pausing the day’s activities or canceling participation in SUMMER CAMP if a student is struggling to be in the proper mindset for a safe, productive, healthy interaction with horses.

✓  HELMETS. Students are required to wear an ASTM-approved helmet and boots when riding at ORR. Adjustable helmets are available for use, or students are welcome to purchase their own helmets.

✓  BOOTS. Boots must have a 1” heel to help keep the foot from slipping through the stirrup and have a smooth sole surface. Boots with treads or boots without a 1” heel will not be allowed. Students will not be able to ride without boots.

✓  CLOTHING. Long pants that are stretchy or have give/flexibility and a long sleeve shirt.

Parents are required to attend the first day’s briefing.
✓ Payment in full is required prior to being enrolled in camp

✓ For students participating in both days of camp, ORR will hold a certificate ceremony.

Managing Expectations

It generally takes hours every day to build a relationship with a horse AND years to bond. Each horse/student team progresses at their own rate. The number of hours spent in the saddle will impact progression rates. The more you connect the better you get as a TEAM.

A good rider knows that learning and practicing new skills never ends. No matter your level of experience, students will have good riding days, GREAT riding days, and days where it seems like nothing will jive between them, the horse, and the whole world. A student’s time with the horse should be in a no-pressure environment. We will always encourage riders and the horse to relax, have fun and be safe.
